Kate Lingley was awarded University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Chancellor's Citation for Meritorious Teaching, which recognizes UH Mānoa faculty members for significant contributions to teaching and student learning.
Kate Lingley is an assistant professor of art history in the Department of Art and Art History at UH Mānoa. Lingley is recognized for her experience in Chinese art, and teaches courses on early art of China, modern and contemporary art of China, Chinese sculpture and applied arts, traditional Chinese painting, and tomb sculpture and funerary art. She took the initiative to develop an undergraduate art history list serve that disseminates news about jobs, internships, and scholarships. This enables the program to keep better track of students and help them succeed in the field. The support Lingley gives to her students, the exemplary model she sets for them in terms of her own scholarship, and the positive attitude she displays, makes her among the strongest teachers on the UH Manoa campus.
