Ms. Han lectured at Chongqing University from 1985-1986 and at Yunnan Institute of the Nationalities from 1986–1988. She continues to pursue her research regarding minority people of China. Her interest centers on minority people in southwest China, especially Yunnan Province. Among Ms. Han's publications are a journal article and several books published by the University of Hawai'i Press: "The Remarkable Cormorants of China," Human Geography of China 97 (Feb 1999): 40-51, Tales from Within the Clouds: Nakhi Stories of China (1997), Why Snails Have Shells: Minority and Han Folktales of China (1993), and The Demon King and Other Festival Folktales of China (1995)
