The Confucius Institute (CI) at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa (UHM) is operated by the Center for Chinese Studies (CCS) in collaboration with the Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU). The US co-directors of the CI-UHM are Cynthia Ning, associate director of the UH Center for Chinese Studies, and Tao-chung Yao, professor of Chinese in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures. The PRC co-director is Meiping Zhu, professor of teaching Chinese and English of BFSU. Chuanlu Zhu, professor of Chinese at BFSU, assists with instruction.
