Prof. Li graduated from Peking University in 1955 majoring in economics, and has held posts as teacher, Professor of Economics, and Dean of Guanghua Management School at Peking University. He currently holds positions as Dean of the School of Social Science and honorary Dean of Guanghua Management School at Peking University.

From 1988 to 2003, Prof. Li was a standing member of the China National People’s Congress. At present, he is the Vice-Chairman of the Economic Committee of the China National Political Consultative Conference, as well as a standing member of the above national agency.
