The YCT is an international standardized test that targets non-Chinese native speakers in primary and secondary schools. There are 3 levels in the YCT, Level 3 being the most difficult.

All examination candidates will receive their scores, which include the total as well as sectional scores. Certification is granted with a passing score. Certification can be used for school application, transfer, and used to measure the effectiveness of a training program.

| 2 | 150 | 1100 | Can understand (listening) simple sentences for daily usage. Can read and understand common phrases, sentences and paragraphs. Can write basic essays about living and learning at school. |
| 3 | 250 | 1700 | Can understand (listening) conversations related to class work and everyday life. Can read and understand key phrases, and simple essays. Able to write and express more advanced ideas. |
