This paper gives a brief introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine from the viewpoint of a practitioner and scholar. This paper traces the history and recognition of the field in the United States. It also uses two case examples of TCM complementing conventional Western treatment, discussing the objectives and results of using TCM. Most importantly, this study reveals the philosophical dimensions of TCM and one institute’s approach, World Medicine Institute, in utilizing TCM treatment.
